At a cost of $1.6 million, 62 maxi taxi drivers in Tobago have benefited from Grants distributed by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
The drivers, who provide transportation services to students across the island, have faced numerous challenges over the years.
Upon coming into office, Assistant Secretary for Education, Research and Technology, Orlando Kerr, said they developed a Draft Policy as well as a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Division and the Public Transportation Services Corporation.
Mr. Kerr added that for the first time contracts are also being prepared for the maxi taxi operators. They also saw the need to provide greater support.
