At least $1 million worth of scrap iron belonging to the Ministry of Works and Transport Division in Caroni was recovered following a police operation.
According to a police report, the Transport Commissioner was overseeing an operation led by officers of the Caroni Police Station and the Chaguanas CID on Tuesday evening when they recovered iron I-beams and steel poles.
The material, which is to be used for the Licensing Office Wrightson Road Division, was reportedly stolen.
They were recovered on a scrap iron compound near the Munroe Road Overpass.
