On Wednesday, 101 entrepreneurs were successfully added to the list of beneficiaries of the National Entrepreneurship Development Company’s (NEDCO) Micro and Small Business Grant Scheme.
They now join over 350 micro and small business entrepreneurs who have already gained much from the programme.
According to NEDCO’s Chief Executive Officer Calvin Maurice, the Grant recipients have recognised that successful entrepreneurship is more than just financial support, but involves a comprehensive approach addressing all aspects of business development.
“What is particularly exciting is the employment potential these businesses represent. The grantees present today are from different communities within Trinidad and Tobago, demonstrating our commitment to balanced regional development.”
According to Minister of Trade and Industry Paula Gopee-Scoon, the advancement of these businesses directly contributes to the national development goals of Trinidad and Tobago.
“I would like to make this point abundantly clear: we are not just funding businesses; we are nurturing business leaders who will drive our economy forward.”
Grant recipient and Managing Director of Happy Home Limited, Johnique De Gannes, describes this MSB Grant Programme as not short of genius.
“Since having received the MSB Grant in July 2024, a lot of our dreams are becoming a reality. Happy Home has seen noteworthy growth; we have seen an overall increase in the number of our customers, including our B2B and B2C clients, and because of this customer growth, our sales have doubled.”
Thus far, a total of 459 MSBs have benefitted from this Grant, which also provided entrepreneurs with training to achieve sustainability and growth.
