A new wage increase offer of 6% has been made to the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine’s academic staff. The offered wage increase is for the period from August 2014 to July 2020.
According to Minister of Finance Colm Imbert, this new offer of 6% will increase the annual recurrent costs for the University by $23 million.
In addition to the increased annual costs, the Government has also agreed to pay on behalf of the university $165 million in back pay.
The offer has been sent to UWI’s administration.
