Acting Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin is refuting reports that the Police Service is looking into financial transactions of suspended Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher.
The Acting Top Cop denied the allegations at Tuesday’s Police Media Briefing.
“I want to emphatically state that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is not conducting any investigation into Commissioner Erla Christopher’s financial records. I have asked all persons concerned, I’ve done all the necessary investigation, speaking to my senior officers, both in the white-collar, the ACP white-collar, as well as the DCP INI, and it is absolutely clear to me, and I want to make it pellucidly clear, that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is not conducting any such investigation.”
The Acting Police Commissioner is asking journalists to be more responsible in their reporting, particularly in relation to sensitive matters.
“We all know that this is a very sensitive matter, and therefore we are asking that greater consideration be given, especially as we seek to deal with this matter more professionally and with a great level of integrity. We want to advise the public at this time that if you need any further investigation or update as relates to any investigation concerning the TTPS, we have the Corporate Communication Department that will update you and give you all accurate information, so that in the future you will not be so misled. So again, please, let’s be so guided in the future.”
