THA Minority Criticises Poor Planning Behind Tobago’s 2025 Carnival

Tobago House of Assembly Minority Leader, Kelvon Morris, believes poor planning contributed to challenges raised in the 2025 Tobago National Carnival production.

During a Press Conference on Thursday, Mr. Morris said he believes it was a deliberate act of the THA administration.

“It is a clear deliberate action to force people by watering it down for you to come to the natural conclusion that, well, we perhaps shouldn’t have it. They want to kill the Carnival.”

He said Tobago has the ability to host two well-executed Carnival experiences in one year.

“It is a national Carnival and we are a union. Trinidad and Tobago means that whatever we are having nationally, Tobago should be a part of. What is lacking is leadership and how you prioritise the resources to ensure the stakeholders, that is your pan, mas, and calypsonians, and therefore provide them with the platform that they can have a festival that all of us can be proud of.”

The Minority Leader raised issues with the Secretary of Tourism’s attendance at Carnival festivities.

He also explained why his absence from the Carnival Monday and Tuesday activities in Tobago was justified.

“On Carnival Tuesday and Monday, while I was doing business in Trinidad, seeing how the Mecca does it, spending my own money to observe so that I can be ready and prepared to help the PNM bring a proper plan, the Secretary of Tourism was absent again.”

On Wednesday, TTT News contacted Assistant Secretary Niall George for comment on this year’s National Carnival execution. He committed to providing a response. However, no response has been received.
