Daren Sammy Joins St. Lucians Competing At TT Golf Open

The second leg of the 117th Trinidad and Tobago Golf Open teed off at the St. Andrews Golf Club in Moka today.

Over 200 golfers will compete for prestige in the Professional, Championship, First, and Second flights over the next four days, with T&T’s Ben Martin targeting a record-breaking seventh title in the Men’s Professional category for the coveted US$10,000 prize.

West Indies Cricket Men’s Head Coach Daren Sammy is one of nine St. Lucians competing in the tournament, and he is anxious to get his competitive swing on.

“It’s not the first time playing in the Trinidad and Tobago Open, but it’s a good experience. Golf is a new passion that I’ve discovered, and it’s good to come here with the team of, I think, nine St. Lucians to try and take part in a beautiful game.”
