On Saturday the People’s National Movement launched its campaign for Claxton Bay with prospective candidate Mukesh Ramsingh receiving strong support.
Speaking at the campaign launch in Claxton Bay – Planning and Development Minister and the PNM’s prospective candidate for Arima, Pennelope Beckles-Robinson praised prospective candidate, Mukesh Ramsingh, highlighting his journey from a young football team founder to a businessman and community leader.
“When you vote for Mukesh Ramsingh you are voting for a candidate of quality. You are voting for a candidate of integrity. You are voting for a candidate who is honest and who has come from humble beginnings.”
Mrs Beckles-Robinson also referenced the string of resignations from the United National Congress.
“You have to ask yourself do you want to be part of an organization that people are running from I mean you have to be serious if so many people resigning from an institution why are you going there they must be telling you something today Gavin Nicholas resigned and guess what he prefer to go independent he don’t want no part of the UNC so Larry Lala gone Robert Amar.”
Mr. Ramsingh reflected on how the events of his childhood prepared him for this stage of his life.
“I am a strong believer of strong core home values , strong parenting and listening to parents the youths sometimes nowadays they don’t want to listen to their parents because they figure they know everything and they figure social media will teach them everything but its you’re your parents that teach you everything and your parents know better for you.”
His father, prominent Couva businessman Nal Ramsingh said he will continue to guide his son once he is elected as the Claxton Bay MP.
“Mukesh will see about you and I will make sure the he see about Claxton Bay once he’s elected…we have a family of tradition of supporting the PNM, but not only the PNM, not only the party we support the PNM people as well we know what it is to support the people and we want you to come out and support Mukesh so that he could support you.”
Other senior party members lent support like the Minister of Rural Development and Local Government and prospective candidate for San Fernando West, Faris Al Rawi and the party’s 2020 candidate for Pointe-a-Pierre, Daniel Dookie.
