PNM Political Leader Warns: UNC Candidates Under DPP Scrutiny

Former Prime Minister and Political Leader of the People’s National Movement Dr. Keith Rowley said a number of the candidates being offered for consideration by the United National Congress have files before the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Addressing party supporters in Diego Martin on Wednesday, Dr. Rowley warned the electorate about the UNC candidates.

“He start out in a programme for $6 million called Life Sport. Today the police has a document as thick as your chair seat with first class information of the $400 million that was stolen in that programme. Calling the name, the rank, the serial number, who did what, where, when and how. That is in the police hands, in front the DPP. Then there is one called David Lee, the DPP is burning the midnight oil trying to get him before a court to answer.”

Dr. Rowley said the former head of the SSA, who is a UNC supporter, attempted to make a very serious purchase.

“That agency bought two military-grade sniper weapons. These weapons have the capacity to hit and kill at three thousand yards. And they also, it carried a telescope and a silencer.”

In contrast, Dr. Rowley pointed to the PNM administration’s track record.

“A competent and knowledgeable PNM government up front took steps to ensure that we increased the revenue of the country. And in the period that we started to negotiate with oil companies without breaking a single contract we attracted $38 billion more in cash that we would not have had unless we had renegotiated those arrangements.”

The General Election is scheduled for April 28th, with representatives from seventeen parties registered to contest the 41 constituencies across the country.
