Foster Cummings Promises Housing And Education Reform For La Horquetta/Talparo

Housing and education were in focus at the People’s National Movement’s Political Meeting in La Horquetta on Tuesday.

PNM Candidate for La Horquetta/Talparo, Foster Cummings, highlighted several community projects he achieved during his tenure as MP, including the construction of a state-of-the-art library and community centres.

He promised much more would come under a new PNM administration.

“Under the PNM, young people, you will own your own land under the PNM. You will own your own homes under the PNM. We are taking the HDC back to low-cost housing, which was what it was formed for in the first place.”

Mr. Cummings added that the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) would widen its reach.

“If your monthly salary is $3,000, you can qualify for a mortgage under the new housing programme we will establish when you elect us back into office.”

Mr. Cummings noted that children in the community had to travel long distances to attend school because the nearby Brazil Secondary School was full.

“The government, understanding that need, has agreed to invest $200 million in the construction of a brand-new Secondary School right here in La Horquetta.”

In less than a week, on April 28th, the electorate will go to the polls. In La Horquetta/Talparo, the decision will be made between the PNM’s Foster Cummings, the United National Congress’ Phillip Watts, the Patriotic Front’s Rekeisha Francois, and the National Transformation Alliance’s Alvin Cudjoe.
