A Tobago man was shot dead by police on Friday.
He has been identified as 35-year-old Ronnel ‘Ratty’ Marcelle of Bethel.
According to police, around 9am an officer on duty in the Bethel area spotted Marcelle, who was wanted for several offences in the Shirvan district. The officer reportedly approached him and attempted to arrest him. A struggle is said to have ensued when Marcelle allegedly pulled a knife and cutlass on the officer.
Marcelle was hit when the officer shot at him. He was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
