A San Fernando man died in a head-on collision along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, near the Claxton Bay Overpass on Saturday.
He was identified as Farley Quintal. According to police reports, Mr. Quintal was driving his Nissan Wingroad station wagon South along the highway when his vehicle crossed the median and collided with a seven-seater vehicle heading North.
Fire officers had to use a hydraulic cutter to free Mr. Quintal from his vehicle. He died while being treated at the San Fernando General Hospital.
The driver of the seven-seater vehicle and his passengers were also taken to hospital for treatment.
The collision occurred just a few days before the Ministry of Works and Transport is scheduled to carry out repairs to cable barriers along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway on the North Bound Lane — from the Gasparillo Flyover to the Claxton Bay Flyover.
The repair works will begin on Tuesday and end on Friday.
