Couva Residents Demand Opening Of Waterloo ECCE Centre

Residents of Couva North, accompanied by their Member of Parliament Ravi Ratiram, today staged a protest outside of the Waterloo Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Centre.

They claim that Government is refusing to open the ECCE Centre, as they said the facility is 100% complete. MP Ratiram said if opened, the school would offer services to a large section of his constituency.

He said while he and the parents understand that the ECCE centres are not yet reopened for physical classes, the facility is not up and running to facilitate online learning.

Mr. Ratiram said many of the parents are unable to afford to send their children to private pre-schools.

One of the residents, Deokie Boodoo, is concerned about the status of the school as she has a three year old who is expected to start school this year.
