Allow Migrant Children Access To Education

Chairperson for the Archdiocese’s Ministry for Migrants and Refugees, Leela Ramdeen, is again urging Government to allow Venezuelan children access to an education.

Speaking during a UWI Webinar on International Migration and Human Rights on Friday, she said there have been numerous calls to Government on the issue and recalled a statement made by the Prime Minister on the issue.

Ms. Ramdeen said space to allow migrant children access to education has been secured, and is now awaiting Government’s authorisation on the matter.

She believes access to education is imperative, even for children who may not be legal citizens of a country.
