Twenty recipients in the Port of Spain South Constituency received Grants from the National Commission for Self Help Limited to assist in repairing their homes.
According to Chairman of the Commission Anthony Campbell, the Grants are to provide disaster relief to constituents who were negatively impacted by the adverse weather conditions, which swept the country in September 2021.
Speaking during the Distribution Ceremony on Tuesday, MP for the area, Keith Scotland, encouraged the constituents to put the Grants to good use.
Meanwhile, Minister of Sport and Community Development, Shamfa Cudjoe, under whose Ministry the Commission falls, said Self Help is about enrichment, empowerment, and personal growth.
Minister Cudjoe said the Government is pleased to make social support, and the strengthening of its social safety-net, a priority.
An estimated $500,000 was spent to fund this project.
