One Caribbean educator believes the region has become too dependent on foreign digital goods and services in the education sector.
Director General of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, Dr. Didacus Jules, said the region and the diaspora have the talent to create their own content and platforms. Dr. Jules was speaking during a Forum on Information and Communication Technology in Education hosted by the Caribbean Telecommunications Union on Wednesday.
Other educators shared some of the challenges teachers and students have faced with online learning as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Head of the Secretariat of the International Task Force for Teachers for Education 2030, Carlos Vargas Tamez, said one of the issues that needs to considered when using ICT is adapting the methods to serve children with learning disabilities.
The ICT in Education Forum provided a platform for sharing information on mutual objectives with respect to technology and education, and to encourage greater regional collaboration amongst key stakeholders.
