The much-anticipated Safe Zone list for Carnival 2022 circulating on social media is not an official document.
This according to one National Carnival Commission official who stated the list of events has not been finalized. The unofficial list contained information about safe zone branded events which included Calypso Tents, Extempo events and national competitions such as Calypso Fiesta. We were told NCC intends to hold a press conference over the weekend to address these and other issues. Recently Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley during a news conference at the Diplomatic Centre announced the staging of Carnival 2022 is a possibility once health protocols are observed. The Tourism Ministry also held consultations with stakeholders. The Carnival Commission who is actively involved in the planning process did not give details on when information about the scheduled events would be made available to members of the public but insists that a comprehensive evaluation is underway designed to keep vaccinated patrons safe during the festivities.
