The Minister of Social Development and Family Services says arrangements have been made for cheques for Social Welfare Grants to beneficiaries in the Sangre Grande area to be reprinted.
Minister Donna Cox was responding to an Urgent Question in the House of Representatives on Friday.
A recent break-in at the Sangre Grande Post Office forced the Ministry to temporarily stop the encashment of all cheques for Social Welfare Grants at groceries, supermarkets, and retail establishments for February and March, as a total of 1,836 cheques were reported stolen, leaving several vulnerable families without their Grants.
