Canboulay Re-enactments To Be Held At NAPA

The National Carnival Commission has advised that the re-enactment of the Canboulay Riots of 1881, will not be put on this year by the Commission.

The NCC issued a statement and explained that instead of this production, which was originally scheduled for Friday February 25th, there will be two stagings of the re-enactment at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA).

The event will be held over a two-day period on Friday February 25th at 5am and 8pm, and Sunday February 27th at 11:30pm.

The Commission explained that in light of the overall paucity of resources available to the Carnival 2022 initiative, a greater communal benefit would be derived from its direct support of the annual production at its closely located sister organisation, rather than by the unnecessary and costly duplication of efforts.

The Commission wished Mrs. Pearl Eintou Springer and the Idakeda Group abundant success with this historically and culturally relevant presentation.
