Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-20 Women footballers have been eliminated from qualification after a heavy 7-2 defeat to St. Kitts and Nevis in San Cristobal yesterday.
Needing a win after an opening day 3-0 loss to El Salvador, the T&T women were behind 2-0 after just eight minutes and 4-0 down before they were able to muster a response. Captain Maria Serrant scored T&T’s first in the 33rd minute but the Kittitians recovered their lead before the half, striking again in the 4th minute of time added. Two further strikes in the second half made it 7-1 before Shurella Mendez scored T&T’s second in the 75th.
T&T is currently bottom of Group G on zero, while St. Kitts and El Salvador have three points each They will end their CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship against Group leaders Canada who remained perfect on Sunday with a 4-0 win over El Salvador.
