A Chaguanas man surrendered to police after a woman was burnt to death in Manzanilla.
According to police reports, at around 5.30pm on Thursday, Patricia Phillip, of Enterprise, was at a friend’s home in Manzanilla with her seven year old son when she saw the suspect. The victim’s friend, who was in the porch with the child, observed the man with a firearm. The friend became afraid and ran through some bushes. Shortly after, he noticed the house on fire.
The incident was reported to the Manzanilla Police Station. Police officers from Manzanilla and fire officers from the Mayaro Fire Station responded. The blaze was extinguished and Ms. Phillip’s burnt remains were found in the living room. The child was found wandering nearby.
The suspect, also of Enterprise, later gave himself up to the Chaguanas police.
