Tobago women took charge of the Tobago House of Assembly Chamber on Tuesday in observance of International Women’s Day.
Sworn in THA Assemblymen sat and witnessed female community members and representatives of various Non-Governmental Organisations debate on the theme “Changing Climates: Equality for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
Ms. Helen Trim, representative for Bon-Accord/Crown Point who piloted the motion, commended the THA for the work being done including tree planting initiatives. Ms. Trim added more can be done. Abi Gray-Warner, in her presentation, spoke highly of Assemblyman Nathisha Charles-Pantin, whose district she represented in Tuesday’s debate. She noted as Secretary for Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Pantin is poised to make an impact on climate change as she is an experienced and inspirational woman.
Shernice Wills represented the Minority Leader Kelvon Morris. She expressed that while women face inequalities males are also plagued with challenges. She called on all to play their part in addressing these.
