Five Rescued From Sinking Vessel

Five people were rescued on Sunday morning after a vessel sunk in Tobago waters.

According to a statement from the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), at approximately 12:25 am. on Sunday TEMA was alerted that a 55-foot Trinidadian fishing vessel, the “Crystal Eye,” sank near the coast of South West Tobago.

The five persons on board the vessel were rescued by a Bahamian Vessel “The Siem Spearfish”.

The fishermen were transported to the Scarborough Port where medical personnel from the Tobago Emergency Medical Services treated one of the rescued men for hypothermia.

The rescued individuals are being accommodated at a guest house on the island and arrangements are underway for transportation to Trinidad.
