The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) will combine a report on recommendations and feedback to be shared with the Minister of National Security after hosting a ‘blackout review’ for the island-wide power outage on February 16th.
The Agency hosted the national after-action review last Friday, and said it was the second stage of similar sessions that occurred.
ODPM CEO, Major General (Retired) Rodney Smart, said the review happened at a time when the Agency was leading an initiative to develop a Comprehensive National Disaster Management Policy, while revising the country’s Disaster Act. He said the review took a systemic approach to understanding the complexities of responding in a unified manner to a prolonged power outage.
Recommendations will be integrated into three strategic disaster management documents that are being developed.
