As the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) continues wage negotiations among members of the public service, UNC Member of Parliament Rudranath Indarsingh warns public servants that negotiations are not being conducted in good faith.
At Sunday’s Opposition Media Briefing, the MP highlighted the increased prices of basic food items and criticised the CPO’s position on the non-consolidation of the Cost of Living Allowance.
Quoting a February 2021 newspaper article, MP Indarsingh accused the government of planning the mass retrenchment of workers since, he said, the government cannot afford an increase in wages without it resulting in job losses.
