The Licensing office has been moving toward total digitisation for four years now.
The Transport Commissioner, Clive Clarke, explains that a National Electronic Register has been implemented. These processes have made it easier to audit transactions enhancing transparency.
Motor Vehicle Inspector, Ramesh Gooptar, says that even inspection of cars is now being conducted using electronic devices. Defects are itemised and the reports stored in a central data base at the Licensing Office. Commissioner Clarke says there’s less room for corruption with this system and it makes the job of the Licensing staff easier.
