The Ascension Tournament’s top two teams continued to prosper on Friday in the opening matches of Round 5.
In the opening match, Kevin Showtime Woodley continued his spectacular form for Cunupia FC, opening the scoring in the 19th doubling up in the 38th and completing his hattrick in the 84th. AC POS got a consolation effort in the 54th through their talisman Che Benny. but it wasn’t the start of a comeback they’d hoped for. A fourth for the Michael de Four-coached Central side in the fourth minute of time added on sealed the victory for them as they made up ground on the league leaders.
La Horquetta Rangers found Deportivo Point Fortin a hard nut to crack and eked out a 1-0 victory from the second match of the double header. Kadeem Corbin’s 60th minute strike proved decisive as the Rangers maintained their unbeaten run atop the standings.
The Ascension League continues tonight at the Arima Velodrome and on Sunday at the Police Barracks in St James.
