Homes At Belle View, Claxton Bay Collapsing, Residents Seek Meeting With EMBDC

The residents living at Belle View, Claxton Bay continue to experience distress since their homes began to collapse in September 2021.

The homeowners say it’s because of quarrying in the Coco Sand Pit near their homes. The houses have been continuously crumbling to pieces as landslips continue to take place.

On Tuesday, the residents received letters from the Estate Management and Business Company (EMBDC), calling on them to move from the area. Their Member of Parliament, David Lee, travelled to the area, concerned that the landowners are being asked to leave the private lands they bought and have been living on for 50 years.

Mr. Lee is asking for a meeting with the EMBDC CEO Judy Beepat Ramjohn to have the matter clarified and resolved to the benefit of the residents.
