The Division of Gender and Child Affairs, in collaboration with the Tobago House of Assembly, continues its rollout of the National Child Registry (NCR).
On May 18-19, 2022, a capacity-building training on using the NCR was held with Data Entry Clerks who will work alongside the Divisions of Education, Research and Technology and Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in digitizing records for the NCR that will soon be operational in Trinidad and Tobago.
The NCR aims to protect and monitor the growth, care, and development of children throughout Trinidad and Tobago. It is essentially a government data management and data sharing system that would capture and hold information on children under the age of 18. The NCR will enable data collection, collation, and information sharing between key stakeholders and generate disaggregated data while providing a holistic view of children in Trinidad and Tobago.
The NCR will foster an integrated, proactive, and collaborative approach to addressing child development issues through notifications, key milestone performance indicators, established protocols, and accountability standards.
The Government remains committed to fulfilling its mandate of securing the rights of the nation’s children through strengthening of the child protection machinery across Trinidad and Tobago, thereby ensuring an environment that promotes and safeguards their well-being and facilitates the attainment of their full potential.
