The Couva branch of Republic Bank was broken into over the long weekend.
The bandits reportedly made a hole in the wall at the back of the building, while a second hole was discovered under another building on the same compound.
In a media release, Republic Bank confirmed the break-in. It also confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident and the bank is cooperating fully with the authorities.
The bank confirms that all customers’ records and files remain secured and the branch’s cash vault was not breached.
Republic Bank says as this is an ongoing investigation, the Bank will be limiting any further statement on the matter at this time.
