Jereem Richards qualified for the Men’s 200 Metres Final and is this country’s first athlete with a shot at precious metal at the 2022 IAAF World Athletics Championships tomorrow.
In Heat 2 on the second day of competition in the half-lap event, Richards stopped the clock at 19.86 seconds to finish third in the fastest of the three Semi Final races.
Richards followed behind Americans Noah Lyles, who won in 19.62 seconds, and Kenneth Bednarek whose season’s best 19.84 seconds was good enough for second.
The World Indoor 400 Metres Gold Medalist is in Lane 2 in tomorrow evening’s Final, which is scheduled for 10:50 pm TT time.
