Richards And Walcott Ready

Jereem Richards will have his sights set on the top of the podium as he takes his mark in a hotly-contested Men’s 200 Metres Final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon this evening

Richards, whose Season’s Best 19.83 is his Personal Best, will have to overcome the likes of reigning champion Noah Lyles and teenage sprint sensation Erriyon Knighton who will be keen on another sprint sweep.

Knighton’s Season’s Best, 19.49 set on April 30th, is the World Under-20 record over the distance – it’s the fourth fastest time in history and fastest time this year among all finalists.

Keshorn Walcott enters the competition arena in this evening’s opening event, the Men’s Javelin. Walcott, who has a Season’s Best of 89.07 will compete in qualification Group A alongside Olympic Champion, India’s Neeraj Chopra.

Jamaica will also be looking for another sweep in the Women’s 200 with 100 Metre champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Silver medalist Shericka Jackson, and Bronze medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah all in the lineup.
