Errant Scrap Iron Dealers Told To Shape Up

‘Shape up and conform, or ship out!’

President of the Trinidad and Tobago Scrap Iron Dealers Association (TTSIDA) Allan Ferguson, announced that immediate change is coming in the form of the self regularisation of the scrap iron industry. At a Press Conference on Thursday, Mr. Ferguson stressed that his Association cannot allow non-conformists in the industry to destroy it.

It was revealed that as of Saturday July 30th, the regularisation process begins for the industry as the Association rolled out its action plan. Operators will be separated into three categories: scrap iron collectors, dealers, and exporters. There will also be sensitisation sessions geared toward industry operators and the public on the new regulations.

Operators are encouraged to register with the TTSIDA through its website or the TTSIDA Head Office. Mr. Ferguson said he is confident that persons will comply with the steps being taken by the Association as this is all in an effort to save the industry.
