The island-wide outage on Saturday was unexpected and had citizens nervous in terms of its cause and the outcomes, with some even comparing it with the outage that happened earlier this year in February.
The Corporate Communications Manager for the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC), Annabelle Brasnell, says the two incidents have no similarity.
She says the length of time it took for service to be restored speaks to the difference in the events. She also says that no piece of equipment is infallible.
Ms. Brasnell says that the independent supplier where the problem originated is investigating what happened and will report to T&TEC.
She says depending on what the report says, and if further investigation is needed, the electric company will ensure this is done.
