CPL 2023: Patriots Lose To Guyana Amazon Warriors

The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots slumped to their second successive CPL T20 defeat at home, this time at the hands of the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Batting first at Warner Park in St. Kitts, the G.A.W. batters galloped to 197 for 7, the highest score this season to date. Shai Hope led the way with a rapid 54 with Saim Ayub getting 31 and Romario Shepherd a cameo 25 not out. Pacer Oshane Thomas bagged 3 wickets for 38 runs for the Patriots.

Responding to the massive chase, the home side lost wickets at regular intervals and only threatened the target from the bat of Evin Lewis, who struck a 24 ball 48, which included 6 sixes. The bulk of the scorecard was filled with single digits, resulting from Gudakesh Motie’s left arm spin. He claimed 4 wickets for 29 runs as the Patriots were dismissed for 132, handing victory to the Amazon Warriors by 65 runs.

This weekend will see double headers on both Saturday and Sunday, with the TKR in action at 10am on Saturday morning.
