One hundred students from under-resourced communities across Trinidad received books, stationery, uniforms, and other essential back-to-school items donated by HADCO, in partnership with Kids in Need of Direction (KIND).
Chairman of KIND, Karina Jardine-Scott, said the organisation’s Annual Back-To-School Drive focused on Primary and Secondary School students in the past.
Brand Manager at General Mills, Ethan Ross-Rampaul, said the company donated $155,000 towards the initiative.
Through its brand Yoplait, the initiative is meant to continue to help build the social capital of the nation.
KIND has been in existence for over 20 years and seeks to empower children and transform lives. Some of their other initiatives include the ‘End Period Poverty’ campaign, the ‘Plant What You Eat’ initiative, and its Mental Health First Aid Certification Training.
