Flash Flooding Reported Across Trinidad

Several areas experienced flash flooding after torrential rainfall this afternoon.

Parts of Chaguanas, Port of Spain, Diego Martin, Cocorite, Chase Village and the Siparia region were affected.

The Trinidad and Tobago Met Service around noon said that a low-level convergence from the East was causing instability over the island, producing some thunderstorms in a few areas.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government confirmed that it received one report of a landslide in the Siparia Regional Corporation with at least 19 reported incidents of floods.

At 1pm, it also indicated that the Caroni River was at 50% capacity with the rest being below 40%.
