Attorney at Law, Martin George, wants an explanation of the confusion caused by the change in the law which dictates how the Commissioner of Police is appointed.
He says the legislation seems hastily crafted and drafted, and is problematic even for the President of Trinidad and Tobago in terms of follow through regarding the list of candidates for the post.
Mr. George says drafting the legislation just months before the end of the tenure of past Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith begs the question as to the intent behind its creation.
He says he is not pointing fingers, but wants some accountability and explanation from Government with regard to the legislation, which appears to be the root of the problem for hiring of a new Commissioner of Police.
