The Trinbago Knight Riders ended their win drought with a victory last evening against archrivals, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, while today, the Barbados Royals failed to protect their winning streak.
TKR amassed 150 for 8 after being invited to bat first last night at the Queen’s Park Oval, with the top score of 42 coming from Colin Monroe.
In the chase, the Amazon Warriors lost wickets consistently with Chanderpaul Hemraj’s 28 the only score of note as Sunil Narine and Akeal Hosein dominated the batters. Narine registered figures of 2 for 9 from his four overs as the Guyana Amazon Warriors were bowled out for 124 in 17.5 overs, handing victory to the TKR by 26 runs.
In today’s early match, the Barbados Royals were finally beaten when the lost to the Jamaica Tallawahs by six runs via the Duckworth/Lewis method. The Royals scored 146 in their 20 overs with 74 coming off the bat of Quinton de Kock. The Tallawahs were on course to victory when the rains came for the second time in the 17th over with the score on 126 for 5. The match was abandoned and after calculating the par score, the Tallawahs were declared winners.
