All positions on the Police Service Commission are now vacant as the lone remaining member, Chairperson Bliss Seepersad, has stepped down.
The Office of the President, via a media release, said President Paula-Mae Weekes has today, September 30th, accepted the resignation with immediate effect of Ms. Bliss Seepersad as Chairman and Member of the Police Service Commission.
The Commission became inquorate last week after members Courtney Mc Nish, Dr. Susan Craig-James, and Roger Kawalsingh all resigned days apart.
The PSC has been mired in controversy surrounding the appointment and then suspension of Gary Griffith as Acting Commissioner of Police.
It’s alleged that Ms. Seepersad acted on her own volition and without the consensus of the Commissioners when she suspended Mr. Griffith, pending the outcome of an investigation into the Firearm User License approvals.
