Windies Men Lose Second T20

The West Indies men lost the second and final T20 international against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane, Australia earlier today.

Electing to bat first, Australia mounted a challenging 178 for 7 from their 20 overs. David Warner returned to fine form, smashing 75 from 41 balls to lead the way. He was ably supported by Tim David who registered a quick fire 42.

Alzarri Joseph was again top notch with the ball, grabbing three wickets for 21 runs from his four overs.

Needing 179 to level the series, the in-form Kyle Mayers departed early for six. Johnson Charles and Brandon King tried to rebuild but the wickets kept tumbling.

Akeal Hosein’s late 25 offered a ray of hope, but Mitchel Starc destroyed the line-up, bagging four wickets for a minimal twenty runs as the West Indies succumbed at 147 for 8, falling short by 31 runs.

The next Windies assignment is on Sunday when they begin the qualification stage of the T20 World Cup, against the United Arab Emirates. They need to top this stage to enter into the Super 12.
