Tobago has recorded its eighth murder for the year.
The victim has been identified as Deon Kennedy, who was allegedly chopped to death at his home located at Idle Wild Trace #2. Reports indicate that just before 10pm on Friday, a relative checked in on Mr. Kennedy at his home. The victim was found lying in a pool of his own blood with chop wounds about his body. According to police, Mr. Kennedy was involved in an altercation earlier that day, and a search is on for the suspect involved.
Elsewhere, a Point Fortin man was gunned down on Friday night. He has been identified as 32 year old Ikem Best. TTT News understands that the victim was shot six times in the face while he was working on his car at Warden Road, Point Fortin. He died at the scene.
And a father of four was shot and killed on Friday in South Trinidad. Initial reports are that his attacker was an off duty police officer.
TTT News understands that 39 year old Jamie Walker of Pleasantville San Fernando was at WE Supermarket in Cocoyea Village at about 4:30 pm, when he got into an altercation with a man about where he was parked. Police reports say that Walker’s wife and three of their children, were seated in the family’s car at the time.
Reports are that two shots were fired and Walker slumped to the ground, where he later died.
There is no confirmation whether the off duty police officer allegedly involved in the incident, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
