Mahatma Gandhi Statue Unveiled

Mahatma Gandhi has inspired several generations as an advocate of truth and believer in nonviolence.

In celebration of the 153rd birthday of Gandhi, the newly-refurbished bronze statue was unveiled at its Harris Promenade, San Fernando home.

In his brief remarks, High Commissioner to India, Arun Kumar Sahu, reminded the gathering how difficult it is to live a life of nonviolence in the face of adversity like Gandhi did. He noted however, that it is difficult but entirely possible.

Following the unveiling, garlands of fresh flowers were draped around the statue.

The statue is maintained by members of the Gandhi Seva Sangh.
