Mikaeel Jim Gordon is now top-scorer in the Ascension Tobago Premier League, after leading 1976 FC Phoenix to a 6-1 win over Bethel United.
Despite the rain, the match between the former Super League campaigners was a chance for Gordon at the Montgomery Recreational Ground.
He shot to the top of the scoring charts with a beaver trick, scoring in the 39th, 51st, 54th, & 70th, Akiel Holford scored Bethel’s consolation in the 65th minute, only to see Lejandro Williams and Jariel Arthur pile on another two in the 84th and 88th minutes.
Matches at Roxborough and Shaw Park had to be postponed as the surfaces at both venues were rendered unplayable due to inclement weather
Gordon now has 13 goals, two more than Lashawn Thomas of Stokely Vale, Arthur is third on the list with eight.
With the win Phoenix opened up an eight point gap between them and Lambeau FC in the Western Conference standings.
The two meet in a top two clash on Sunday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.
