The 17 schools that were identified for instances of school violence by the Ministry of Education have seen a reduction in such cases โ with the intervention of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, according to Line Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly.
Speaking to the media after the Commissioning Ceremony of the Fanny Village Government Primary School on Monday, she was asked about the recent incidences of school violence.
She also commended the actions of the parent of the female student who was seen jumping out of the window of a maxi-taxi. The child’s mother immediately took her daughter to the Besson Street Police Station and made a report about her conduct. She then went to the City Gate Transportation Hub where she met with members of the Route 2 Maxi Taxi Association and also paid her daughter’s maxi taxi fare to the driver and apologised for her behaviour.
