Four half centuries were scored in the West Indies first innings of their 3-day tour match versus an ACT/New South Wales XI at EPC Solar Park in Canberra.
Resuming on Day 2 with 297 for 5 on the board, Kraigg Brathwaite’s team declared at 424 for 9 with the highlights in the back-half of the innings being 77 and 33 not out by Devon Thomas and Alzarri Joseph respectively. This, after Jason Holder and Jermaine Blackwood retired out on their overnight scores of 50 and 42.
The ACT/NSW XI responded solidly and were 259 for 2 at the close of play with Oliver Davies hitting a stroke filled 115 in 106 balls. Opener Blake MacDonald will resume on day 3 with 76 to his name as his team trail by 165.
The Windies bowling laboured for success, with pacer Kemar Roach being the most economical with figures of 0-20. But Jayden Seales (0-47), Alzarri Joseph (0-40), and veteran spinner Roston Chase (0-50), all with 10 overs, were among the bowlers who struggled.
