Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart R. Young, MP and Permanent Secretary, Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, met with Mr. Ian Cameron, Senior Vice President-Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Methanex Corporation and Mr. Colin Bain, Managing Director & President Methanex Trinidad and Tobago at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ Head-Office, today, Monday 28th November, 2022.
Minister Young was updated by the Methanex executives since their last visit in February 2022. Discussions surrounded the future expectations and continued investments of Methanex in Trinidad and Tobago’s petrochemical sector. Minister Young reiterated that the outlook for energy remains positive and reassured the executives that the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries will continue to collaborate and maintain their strong working relationships with Methanex for current and future projects within Trinidad and Tobago. The parties also discussed Methanex’s operations in Trinidad, Carbon Capture Sequestration and Utilization and the future expansion of the use of methanol, amongst other matters
Methanex is the world’s largest producer and supplier of methanol to major international markets. In addition to their operations in Trinidad and Tobago and the United States, Methanex currently has production sites in Chile, Egypt, New Zealand with their headquarters in Vancouver, Canada.
