Castara Selected For UNWTO Best Tourism Villages Upgrade Programme

Out of 130 applicants from 57 countries, Castara in Tobago has been selected for participation in the United Nations World Tourism Organisation Best Tourism Villages Upgrade Programme.

The seaside village was among three submitted by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

On Tuesday, the Ministry congratulated the Castara Tourism Development Association on the achievement. The Ministry said Castara has demonstrated its great potential to become an outstanding example of a first-rate rural tourism destination. The village will receive support from the UN-WTO to improve the areas identified as gaps during the evaluation process.

Siparia and Lopinot in Trinidad were the other two villages submitted by the Ministry for consideration.
