Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley cannot lay the Firearms User’s License Audit in Parliament.
On Wednesday, Justices of Appeal Nolan Bereaux, Peter Rajkumar, and Maria Wilson ruled that the injunction against the Prime Minister remains. However, they deemed it to be too wide and it was varied.
The Prime Minister will not be able to lay the Report in Parliament or a summary of it, except to those who are named in it so they can make representations.
Only when these comments are incorporated into the Report can the Audit Report be shared with Cabinet.
Those named in the report will only receive a copy of those parts of the report which affect them.
The Appeal Court Justices ordered that the report must be redacted and this will remain in place until Justice Devindra Rampersad gives his decision on the challenge to the report, which is expected on March 3rd.
On December 13th, High Court Judge Devindra Rampersad granted the injunction in favour of former Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith to delay the publishing of the report.
