A Massy Stores Supervisor was tailed, kidnapped and forced to open the vaults at her workplace in La Romaine.
Reports indicate that around 9:45pm on Friday, the female supervisor locked and secured Massy Stores in La Romaine before leaving the establishment.
While proceeding along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway in Gasparillo, she observed a white SUV with blue flashing lights bumpering her vehicle.
She pulled over, and three suspects exited the vehicle in coloured clothing, wearing bullet proof vests with the markings “POLICE” written in front and back and ski masks covering their faces.
The suspects confirmed her identity, kidnapped her and drove back to Massy Stores in her vehicle.
The suspects forced her to open the safe, and stole an undisclosed sum of money following which they made their escape in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim called the police and an all-points bulletin was sent to discover the vehicle. The vehicle was intercepted along Cross Crossing interchange San Fernando where a police shoot-out occurred between police and the suspects.
One of the suspects who was injured during the shoot-out later died at the San Fernando General Hospital. Two suspects are in police custody, while the fourth one is still at large.
Eighteen spent 9mm shells, a bullet proof vest with police markings, the victim’s purse and cellphone, and a sum of 15 thousand 4 hundred TT currency was found in the vehicle and seized.
